Developing a market for
full-event music managers

FOUNDER

DJam Consulting was started by Matthew Tritto, currently a musician/DJ in Buffalo, NY under the moniker Saxman Slim. Disallusioned with unreliable fellow musicians during the 1990s, the lifelong alto sax player started noticing singles performing with an accompanying recorded track and embarked on developing his own concept. One night, after sadly packing up and driving away from a raucous wedding cocktail hour performance, Matt brooded that the adjacent DJ had set up similar sound equipment to continue the fun and earnings. Suddenly, the light bulb went on to combine the two unnecessarily disparate endeavors into a comprehensive music offering. Convincing potential customers proved challenging since musicians are perceived as snobs who play for themselves whereas DJs play what people like. Even as success propelled Saxman Slim from a side hustle to an occupation, competition never materialized which limited acceptance of the concept. DJam works with performers since it’s easier to get a musician to develop DJ skills than teach a DJ to play an instrument.
